Very interesting interview! Because I am not familiar with any officer training it was interesting to hear your subject talk about the need for good and realistic online training to meet the needs of the generation she is working with. The fact that someone recognized the need for officers to receive training and follow through with a comprehensive program as this looks to be is impressive. Nice job with the interview!
Thanks Dianna. The biggest thing is working in a joint environment (all branches of service). The language and jobs are different from the different branches of service and getting everyone on the same sheet of music to work in harmony can sometimes be a big task! Thanks again! -Ryan
This was a very interesting interview customized training as per the needs of the client. I was impressed by the varying client base Dr.Fenty works with, from Exxon Mobile to hard core gamers who want realistic game-based training avatar-based interactions.
In terms of technology challenges, I think your subject calling for technical support when using live technology was right on the mark. In addition, her advice to have a back-up lesson plan, paper- & discussion- based learning activities, in case the technology fails was excellent. Thank you for including the PowerPoint slides. Dr. Fenty used a lot of military terminology and jargon which the slides clarified and discussed in good detail. Well done!!!
Your interview really gave a different view from an educational planner point of view. It was based with someone who does not use it solely for an educational setting, but for business training. Her inclusion of research prior to building a course I think really affects the outcome and success of the course. As a result, she mentions hands-on activities and a small amount of lectures; something that seems like it is a direct result of the research.
I was not surprised to hear of issues arise with her use of technology. Yet, she seems like the solution to the issue was not a discontinuation but an alteration in the use of that piece of technology. It is nice to hear that they were sticking with the technology because of its ability to be successful even with a small failure.
Your powerpoint provided good background information in an easily read format. It would have been nice to bullet point some of that information, because it was a lot. I think because of the time constraints of the audio portion, it was a good idea to include this information in text form, while the interview questions and answers were in audio format.
